Review of Polar 220W Mod by Vaporesso. Northern Lights

What is the minimum resistance that an electronic battery mod should support? Vaporesso, having released its Polar 220W box mod, says 0.03 Ohm.

The device is sold in a small, simple, but nice white box made of thick cardboard with an image of the device and its name on the front side. In addition to the inscriptions with important characteristics of the box mod decorating the right wall, on the bottom you can find a bunch of icons with warnings and social networks, the details of the manufacturer Vaporesso, basic information about the Polar 220W and a sticker with a barcode, which indicates the color of our box.

Micro USB Cable

User Manual and Warranty Card

Right under the lid we are greeted by something that suspiciously resembles a plump golden Vertu. Next to it lies a half-meter cable in a rigid plastic braid. best online vape store australia Under the plastic mold you can find a branded black envelope with a warranty card and warnings, a small cardboard box with instructions on how to deal with the helpful Smart mode and automatic shutdown, as well as a fairly thick manual. The volume of this booklet is given over to a huge number of translations (including a quite tolerable Russian version), but it cannot boast of any detail: four pages are mainly devoted to a description of the capabilities of our purchase, as well as the CASCADE Baby SE Tank, which is not included in this kit.

The new device suspiciously resembles, if not the above-mentioned glamorous phone, then certainly the previously seen devices from Vaporesso “family” Revenger. The similarities with the predecessors are visible to the naked eye: the same streamlined shapes, a black frame around the perimeter and glossy plastic panels. The main difference is in the updated display, which has become colored and larger, as well as in the contents of the device. On board the device is another of the company’s own developments – the new OMNI 4.0 board, which, like its predecessors, can boast a huge number of functions, modes and a short response time.

I haven’t seen in real life what the coating looks like in the other versions, but the gold box turned out to be glossy and very easily soiled. I’m afraid that the first magpie that flies by will snatch it from your hands, so you should be extremely careful with it when vaping outdoors. Part of the panel under the screen and the back side are decorated with a mosaic pattern that becomes visible only under certain lighting conditions, it adds even more glamour and pathos to the design of the device.

Colors of the Vaporesso Polar 220W Mod

In total, Vaporesso offers a choice of seven colors, in which both the box and the kit with the tank are available separately: metallic gray, red, gold, silver, black and red, black and green, black and blue. The CASCADE Baby SE Tank works on the well-known GT series evaporators. By the way, judging by the video on the network, all devices except Silver and Gold have a matte finish, so if you are not a fan of constantly wiping off fingerprints, take a closer look at other options. Perhaps, of all the possible color solutions, it is the Polar 220W Gold that looks the most controversial. Although, as they say, this is only a matter of personal preference.

Impressions and conclusions

A sense of déjà vu when looking at the device is guaranteed, especially if you have held the company’s previous products in your hands. On the one hand, this is the exploitation of its own developments in terms of design, and on the other – a developed and recognizable style that most manufacturers lack. Whether it is necessary for vaping devices is a separate question, the answer to which let everyone give themselves. In my opinion, the gloss in the box mod is unnecessary, because the device constantly looks untidy. Unless it is wrapped in a silk cloth all the time. And if it would still be possible to put up with dirty panels, then the case in constant fingerprints, dust particles and condensation is a little annoying. Sometimes there is an irresistible desire to put the device under the tap and wash it thoroughly. But, of course, this is a personal IMHO, which you absolutely do not have to share with me. Moreover, the box mod itself is quite interesting.

Polar 220W, despite my gloating about the similarity to a phone, has such a shape for a reason: the device fits perfectly in the hand and is very pleasant to use. And with the batteries installed, it also has a comfortable weight. To be honest, I was never able to get a 0.03 Ohm coil to fully experience the Super Player mode, and I don’t have 35A batteries, only the good old VTC5A. And it’s a bit scary… But even with 0.07 Ohm on the Littlefoot RDA, the device does its job perfectly and before the Too Hot inscription appeared, I almost vaporized a fully filled dripper with minimal breaks between puffs. The electronics protect themselves, the batteries and the user from damage and there is no point in blaming them for this. If the lower threshold of 0.05 Ohm is already “childish” for you, then the guys from Vaporesso who created the OMNI 4.0 tried especially for you. The response time does not cause any discomfort, but traditionally, it takes longer to wake up from standby than the promised 0.001 s. But the “awakened” device fries instantly. We have already seen a screensaver with a calendar and clock many times from other manufacturers, but here there is clearly not enough battery on the board itself so that they do not freeze without batteries.

Liked:

Nice appearance (though, too similar to a mobile phone)

Ergonomic shape

Very rich functionality of the board (but the cutoff time cannot be changed)

Updatable software

High charging current up to 2.5A

Support resistance from 0.03 Ohm (Super Player mode)

Passthrough mode

Varivolt mode (personal like)

Disliked:

Does not stand well on a flat surface

Overloaded menu

Glossy case

Protruding Fire button (needs to get used to)

To be honest, the device left mixed impressions. On the one hand, the menu is clearly replete with unnecessary items that could be safely reduced, and on the other hand, such an organization is more visual and simple. In general, what is more understandable and closer to you, but I would prefer to see here manual adjustment of the preheat with time and power than five (!) variwatt modes. Although, personally, I have Normal installed everywhere, and I don’t use preheat and temperature control. In general, the device is curious and interesting, with its own “goodies” that I haven’t encountered anywhere else yet.
