Review of Vaptio WALLCRAWLER KIT

Review of Vaptio WALLCRAWLER KIT

In this review, I will tell you about a relatively compact mod with very outstanding characteristics – WALLCRAWLER from Vaptio.

Any device from absolutely any company, one way or another, whether they want it or not, will be similar to something else. Vaptio products are no exception, they already had N1PRO – similar to RX, C-II – similar to iJust, and now they have released WALLCRAWLER – similar to iStick Pico. Similar only in the layout scheme, but completely different in terms of ergonomics, screen and especially the board.

WALLCRAWLER KIT packaging

WALLCRAWLER KIT comes in a white box with the inscription S.M.O.O.TH, dressed in a dust jacket, which is typical for Vaptio. The outer shell is literally strewn with various information: on the front side there is a warning required by European standards, a picture of the set, the name and in the upper right corner the option of the complete tank (here it can be either FROGMAN TANK XL or just FROGMAN TANK, they differ only in volume – either 5 or 2 milliliters, and they use the same evaporators). geekvape australia On the back side there is another warning, a list of contents inside and the manufacturer’s address. The side edges are given warning information and a mark indicating what color your device will be and what tank it will come with. In addition to the set with FROGMAN tanks, there is a set with a THRONE TANK tank).

What’s in the box

Inside the box in two plastic trays are: the WALLCRAWLER mod itself, a bag with O-rings, a FROGMAN XL tank, a spare evaporator, a USB charging cable and a pack of paper.

Vaptio WALL CRAWLER KIT – instructions

The tank and evaporator are accompanied by very detailed instructions in several languages. I will not provide the contents not only due to the large amount of text, but also because there is nothing special there, you can do without studying them.

WALLCRAWLER MOD. Design

70% of the popularity of a device depends on its appearance; for beautiful, pleasant or convenient forms, many are ready to forgive any problems with the board or even use an outdated device. In this case, both the appearance and the filling are “at the forefront”. Visually, the WALLCRAWLER is similar to the incredibly popular Pico, except that it has slightly larger dimensions, but the screen here is more serious, and the board too. The design move to stylize the device as a “spider-man” on the one hand can attract fans of Spidey to it, but on the other hand, this stylization is very conditional and only in the red version, any other colors are already weakly reminiscent of the Marvel hero. The approach to materials is also quite interesting: the top and bottom are made of plastic, and the sides are made of painted alloy. At first it seems that the plastic inserts will look at least “cheap and trashy”, but in fact it turns out to be quite decent, and in the process of long-term use and also practical, because the inevitable scratches on the plastic are almost invisible due to its uniform color throughout the volume. A fairly large color screen with a diagonal of 1.3 inches attracts attention, but, unfortunately, does not reveal its potential, later I will tell you why.

In my opinion, the most attractive is the all-black device, then the one with a steel case. Red maximally reveals you as a Spider-Man fan, but blue will at least shock the public. The color of the complete tank in the set will depend on the color of the device: in the steel version, the tank will also be unpainted, and in all the others it will be black.

The side edges of the device are rounded for a comfortable grip, and are also profiled with several depressions and protrusions. One of the sides is completely “blind”, but the second is completely a button, under which the designers placed a microUSB connector for charging and firmware.

The lower end cannot boast of anything remarkable, only a sign prohibiting disposal with household waste, a RoHS certificate, a “Developed by Vaptio” mark and three holes for ventilation and emergency gas release.

There is a little more interesting on top: firstly, this is the battery compartment cover, and secondly, a 510 connector.

The positive pin of the connector is spring-loaded, which will allow you to use absolutely any evaporators on the mod, regardless of whether their positive pin protrudes or is completely recessed. The connector itself is turned from steel, has an external diameter of 16 millimeters and a central part raised by about 0.15 millimeters. This step will protect the evaporators from sticking to the mod and will additionally serve as a small guarantee of the absence of circular scratches on the plastic around the metal part. The battery compartment cover is metal and painted, for convenience, its side surface is ribbed, but the threads leave much to be desired and noticeably heat up when vaping at maximum power. The battery is inserted into the mod exclusively with the pluses down, this is why a red plus is drawn deep in the shaft, and two minuses inside the cover. In case of incorrect installation, nothing will happen at all, the mod predictably will not turn on, but it will not burn out either. But if you connect a mod with an incorrectly installed battery to USB, the screen will turn on and start showing the charging process, I don’t know what the outcome will be, I didn’t risk checking the consequences and quickly turned off the power.

Total:

Personally, I liked the design of the device, although I am not a fan of Spider-Man, it is quite unusual and at the same time does not slide into trash. Low resistance support is pleasing, but not so much for the maximum power of 80 watts (if only this board, with two batteries, and up to 200 watts…). The screen is just good, although it does not reveal all its capabilities. But what surprises me most is the very, very fast board, I don’t know how the manufacturer measured 0.0005 seconds from pressing the FIRE button to reaching maximum power, but in fact this baby starts frying just instantly! I won’t make premature conclusions about the firmware yet, I think I just haven’t figured it out.

WALLCRAWLER KIT. Impressions of the complete kit

Overall, it’s fine. The mod and tank are quite harmoniously combined with each other and the board’s capabilities are enough to pull out the maintenance-free complete evaporators.
