Review of Cigstar Greek Temple

Review of Cigstar Greek Temple

The dual-battery mod format is famous for its versatility: small, autonomous, relatively compact. And it seems that everything that could be thought of has long been made by well-known and not so well-known manufacturers. And it is especially interesting to see what the forgotten old men from the Chinese company Cigstar can offer modern vapers in their Greek Temple box mod.

Cigstar is a really old manufacturer, tracing its history back to the gray year of 2006, when it released eGo-T e-cigarettes and evaporators for them. Then there were the iMotion electronic tube mods, very much reminiscent of the Z-Max and Vamo (sorry), and various starter kits. The company’s website seems to be stuck in those glorious times, since the footer still shows off 2013, and the latest “new products” are the iMotion V5+ and the Tetris-like Air Tank 1 clearomizers, devices from those times. And recently a new device from this company appeared on the Internet, the Greek Temple 230W TC Box MOD, although it suspiciously resembles something…

Cigstar Greek Temple 230W Packaging

The device came to me in a white box with a huge Cigstar inscription in a red rectangle on the front side. On the back side there was much more information: there is the name of the device, the delivery set, the main characteristics of the device, the manufacturer’s details, warnings and age restrictions, a separate sticker indicates the color of the box mod inside. buy vape pods australia The box itself was dressed in a white matte transparent sleeve, through which all the information on the packaging is clearly visible.

Warranty Card (for 90 days)

The device is inside in a translucent bag, the manual (with bright color illustrations, but only in English) and the warranty card are in a separate envelope, a short microUSB cable for charging in a black box. In general, this is the whole poor set.

Appearance of Cigstar Greek Temple 230W

If you put aside the exterior of the device, decorated in leather-face and with a stylized image of the pantheon, then we have the old familiar cuboid format: the Fire button is located on the side, the screen and control buttons are on the front panel, even the charging port is on the opposite side, only at the bottom, not at the top.

In addition to the appearance, the device also stands out for its “fitted” shape of the case, slightly narrowing in the center, as well as four matte inserts at the top and on the sides of the screen, under which the LED backlight is hidden. It is very curious that the dimensions of the mod in the characteristics are clearly underestimated, however, it is not clear who is to blame and what to do why this happened. There are no fasteners anywhere on the case, everything is hidden either in the battery compartment or under the stickers.

Colors of Cigstar Greek Temple 230W

The device is available in two versions: black and white. In fact, both Greek Temples are painted in silver paint, pleasant to the touch, the only difference is in the stickers: on the first one it is “carbon fiber”, on the second one, which I got for review, it is black and white snakeskin. The structure is quite embossed, not to say thin, but does not spring under the fingers.

Spring-loaded 510 connector

On top there is a connector with a small negative pad, its diameter is only 16 mm. The connector itself is raised above the case, the atomizers above the case noticeably “levitate”, and in my copy it is also installed a little unevenly. From the atomizer with a diameter of 25 mm to the edge of the pad there is still a reserve of 2 mm, i.e. here without overhanging you can easily install some monster 29-30 mm. The positive contact has a small contact area, is spring-loaded and has a good power reserve – the Battle Deck is screwed almost to the end.

At the bottom of the case there are a couple of standard pictograms and for some reason an icon for recycling the packaging has been added, and there is also the inscription Designed by Cigstar. The battery compartment cover is held by protrusions that enter the side grooves and spring-loaded contacts inside the case. On the cover there is a marking of the polarity of the installed power elements (it is also present inside, but it is difficult to see), between the two compartments you can see the balancer for charging the cans inside the mod.

Impressions and conclusions

Cigstar Greek Temple 230W battery compartment coverThe device was in use for about a week, vaped mainly with Petri V2 (0.13 Ohm) and OBS Crius 2 RTA Dual Coil (0.12 Ohm). The lower power threshold of 10 W was very disappointing, I usually vape my cigarette tanks at 8-9 W (1.3 Ohm), and I had no desire to rewind to a lower resistance. In general, this is my first minus of the device, purely personal. The second, the same “IMHO”, but still more significant – resistance support only from 0.1 Ohm, i.e. my drippers with 0.06 winding with coils from Arsenal also did not start, Greek Temple shows resistance “at zero” and gives a Check Atomizer error. Here I am again limited in the use of my atomizers. I can’t say anything about the “light music”, it just works, and its presence is neither a plus nor a minus for me, I only tested the operation of this function and almost immediately turned off the backlight. The “skin” is glued a little unevenly in places, but in general, it is unnoticeable, only with a very close examination you can notice minor flaws. But during use it has not come off anywhere, which is already good. But the gap in the battery compartment is a little more annoying, it seems that something was not calculated very well here and the springs in the contacts were put too tight. I don’t know how this will affect the durability of the cover, but it is unlikely to be positive. Leather sticker on the Cigstar Greek Temple 230W box modIn general, if we discard minor flaws and a little meager functionality of the board with a bright color screen (it would be better to do it like in Augvape V200 – leave only variable wattage, or in Cylon 218W / Ranker 218W – add loading of your own backgrounds and images), then the device looks quite fresh and may well become a replacement for some Fuchai 213W or another dual-battery mod. The assembly is quite good, the landing for large atomizers is available, and someone may well like the bright flashing multi-colored backlight. The response to Fire is clear and fast, no misfires were noticed during the entire time, any glitches and failures either. In general, it seems that Cigstar’s comeback will go largely unnoticed. To “break into” the market, you need something much more interesting than a color screen and backlighting, the trends have long been established and here at least the filling is needed that will correspond to the industry flagships, and not all this. No, the device is good in its own way, but if it had come out a year earlier, it would have definitely been a success. But for now, this is a good, nice, somewhat interesting, but quite a passable device.
