Review of Calypso by Ohmega

Ohmega is familiar to all of us with their Ohmega series of atomizers and Mad Hatter drip, which are insanely cheap and hugely popular in the budget atomizer segment due to their ease of use, quality and of course pricing. A fair amount of time has passed and I came across their new atomizer. It is called the Calypso and is a 30mm monster!

The look of the tank brings to mind the Avocado RDTA, except that our guest is a bit bigger. On the top is a wide driptip, under it is the tank lid, the body with the base, and the glass at the bottom. As you have already realized this is a genesis type tank. It is available in black and steel colors.

Just when I was about to say how glad I am that finally someone bothered to release an atomizer without Velocity racks, I realized that it’s the same eggs, only horizontally. australian vape shop perth The 4 2.8mm diameter holes can accommodate an impressively thick coil, which will be secured with Phillips screws on top. The base is designed for both two and one coil. When using a single coil, one of the sides is covered with a silicone plug.

There are 6 holes in the base, 4 of which are for absorbent cotton or mesh (does anyone still use it?) with the size of 6.5 mm and two for refills. The size of the refill holes is so small that you can forget about comfort. I assume this is done to make the tank less spillable. As an option, it would be possible to make the holes much larger and equip them with plugs.

We’re done with refueling, now it’s time to talk about volume. How much volume do you think this 30mm monster has? 6-7 ml? A LITER? You would never guess, its volume is a ridiculous 4.5 ml! In justification we can say that such a small volume of the tank is due to the peculiarities of the genesis design, the same Avocado has a tank volume of only 3 ml, but this does not prevent the tank to be good. Taking into account the size of spirals, which are installed in this monster, the liquid will be gone in three puffs. Thus, you will refill often, and you can forget about comfort and autonomy.

I almost forgot to mention about the airflow. It consists of 3 slots of 7 mm each and is regulated by turning the skirt body.

It’s already silly to talk about the 510 connector, I can’t remember the last time I heard of any other connector, even his shoe-like starter kits come out with a 510 connector already. The center contact is copper and adjustable. Finding a boxmod for this tank will not be an easy task, so I wish good luck to everyone who deigns to buy this unit.

Now it’s time to summarize and discuss pricing. I was thinking that this is not a bad atomizer, but! First of all, it will be very difficult to find a box mod for it. Secondly, although the atomizer has impressive size, it is not designed for some wild vaping, like, for example, the same ATTY 40 mm, the blowing will not allow you to do that. Thirdly, the device costs about 50 dollars on pre-order, which is an exorbitant sum for Ohmega products, and considering the two previous disadvantages, I just don’t see the point in taking it for such a crazy sum. Thus, Calypso lost to Avocado without a fight, because with avocado you will get exactly the same amount of vapor, and the flavor will be more, and the volume of genesis is a secondary matter. I do not recommend to buy, but if you do decide to buy it;

May the microcoil protect you.
